Asterisk’s owner expressed ambitious goals. “We are committed to continuing our dominance in South Asia while contributing to the growth of esports. Our vision is to create an environment where we can compete against international teams and showcase thrilling matchups like India vs. the world,” they said.
The roster includes Ahmed "Nero" Shahid, a Grandmaster mid-laner inspired by Faker, Akshaj "Katbot" Shenoy, a versatile mid-lane star, and Mihir "Angelslotus" Ranjan, an experienced ADC who has competed at the Challenger level. Joining them are Mehrab "RTO" Ahmed, a promising top-laner from Bangladesh, and Tharuka "KratoZ" Fernando, a Grandmaster support player from Sri Lanka. Aakash "BlackInfinity" Shandilya rounds out the team as a Diamond-ranked jungler eager to prove his skills on the competitive stage. Asterisk’s immediate plans include competing in domestic and Southeast Asian tournaments while preparing for future LAN events. The team has also recruited key support staff, including a coach, assistant coach, and analyst, all from the South Asia region.
A Bright Future or a Temporary Spark?
Asterisk’s entry is exciting for the Indian esports scene, bringing much-needed attention and energy. However, the road ahead is fraught with challenges. With the global esports market evolving rapidly, Asterisk must navigate financial pressures, player development, and international competition to cement its place as a true contender.
While the owner is optimistic, stating, “We aim to establish India as a prominent esports powerhouse on the global map.” the road ahead will test Asterisk’s resolve and backing in the Indian esports ecosystem. For now, however, the spotlight is firmly on them as they look to carve out a legacy in South Asia’s gaming history.
