BGIS 2025: The Grind - Full Recap

February 2025 was an eventful month of the Indian BGMI esports scene, as it featured the first esports tournament, BGIS 2025: The Grind, of the year. Battlegrounds Mobile India Series (BGIS) 2025 kicked off with the BGIS 2025: The Grind, which is the official qualification event of the BGIS 2025: Main Event for the invited teams. 



Over the past three weeks, 64 invited teams, which were divided into four groups, played 24 matches among their respective groups, and based on their performance, all 64 teams were seeded to the BGIS 2025: Main Event. Fan favourites like Team Soul, Orangutan Gaming, GodLike Esports, and Revenant XSpark were among the eight teams who have directly qualified for the Quarter Finals of BGIS 2025.



Group A played their final games on 23rd February 2025, where Team Soul finished on top with six Chicken Dinners and 221 total points, giving them an easy qualification to the Quarter Finals of the BGIS 2025. Alongside Team Soul, seven more teams have qualified for the Quarter Finals, whereas the bottom eight teams are seeded to the BGIS 2025: Main Event Round 4.

From Group B, the top 8 teams, including NONX Esports, Hyderabad Hydras, and Gods Reign, will join the bottom eight teams from Group A in the BGIS 2025: Main Event Round 4. NONX Esports topped in Group B with four Chicken Dinners and 176 total points, followed by Hyderabad Hydras with 163 points, and Gods Reign secured 159 total points with two Chicken Dinners. The bottom eight teams from Group B will have to compete in Round 3 of BGIS 2025: Main Event to move forward. 


SBA Esports and Big Brother Esports secured the top two positions, respectively, in Group C, and the top eight teams from Group C will join the bottom teams from Group B in Round 3 of BGIS 2025: Main Event. The top eight teams from Group D and the bottom eight teams from Group C will play in Round 2, and the bottom teams from Group D will start their BGIS 2025: Main Event from Round 1. 


BGIS 2025: Main Event will be divided into two stages: the League Stage and the Grand Finals. League Stage will feature Round 1, 2, 3, 4, Quarter Finals, Wildcard, Semi-Finals Week 1, and Semi-Finals Week 2. Teams will have to stay consistent across the League Stage to qualify for the Semi-Finals, and the top eight teams from Semi-Finals Week 1 will qualify for the Grand Finals, whereas the remaining 24 teams will compete in Week 2. The top eight teams from Week 2 will advance to the Grand Finals. 


The top 16 teams from the Semi-Finals will fly to Kolkata for a three-day finale from 25-27 April 2025. Across the three days, teams will play 18 matches (6 matches per day), and the winner of the finale will grab the lion’s share of Rs. 2 crore prize pool.
