F4Q Disbands Amid Controversy Surrounding FiveK

F4Q, a notable Korean mixed esports team, has disbanded following the sudden disappearance of their captain “FiveK”, on the day of the playoffs. This news came to light during a live stream by team member KimGyuTae, shortly after DRX terminated FiveK's contract from its streamer division due to allegations about his personal life.

Originally founded by FiveK in 2020, F4Q gained recognition for its remarkable roster, which included former Overwatch League players Bunny and Zunba. The team famously ended Vision Strikers' 104-game winning streak in official matches and represented Korea at VCT 2021 Masters Berlin. Despite disbanding in September 2021, they briefly reunited in 2022 with sponsorship but went on hiatus after only one tournament.

Their latest comeback was announced in August this year, with FiveK leading the lineup. This iteration of F4Q included popular streamer KimGyuTae, ex-DetonatioN FocusMe player Suggest, former Global Esports star Bazzi, and Moves from SLT. The team had a promising start, achieving a perfect record in the Challengers KR. However, on December 15th, during the playoffs, FiveK went missing and could not be contacted. Forced to play with substitute players, the team lost in overtime and was subsequently disbanded.

The disbandment sparked reactions from team members on social media. Bazzi shared a meme from Naruto’s Jirobou, stating, “When five people get together, one is bound to be a scumbag”, a phrase often used humorously in Korean gaming circles. Meanwhile, Moves announced he is now LFT (Looking for Team), signaling his intent to continue his career elsewhere.

Reports have also surfaced about FiveK's troubled past, including financial difficulties and alleged misconduct. Former DRX associates noted that he frequently canceled events and failed to adhere to streaming schedules. Further controversy arose when his ex-girlfriend accused him of owing 70 million won (approximately $48,000 USD ), shedding light on his financial struggles.

The sudden disbandment of F4Q marks a dramatic end for a team that held a significant place in Korean VALORANT history.
