FURIA finalize 2025 VCT roster: heat, raafa, and peu join the squad

FURIA has officially announced their 2025 roster, welcoming Olavo "heat" Marcelo and Rafael "raafa" Lima, alongside Pedro "peu" Lopes as Head Coach. The revamped lineup debuted today at the Tixinha Invitational against Galorys, a team that recently competed in the Americas Ascension.

heat's career took a significant turn in 2024 when he transitioned from MIBR to KRÜ Esports and shifted from a Duelist to an Initiator role. This change proved fruitful as he played a pivotal part in helping KRÜ secure their fourth consecutive Champions appearance. Although KRÜ narrowly missed the playoffs in Seoul, heat's performances stood out.

Following KRÜ's Champions exit, where they were eliminated by FNATIC, heat revealed that he had been allowed to explore his options for 2025. Last month, he officially parted ways with the organization, signaling the next chapter in his career.

As for raafa, he brings a wealth of experience from Brazil's Challengers scene. After falling short of promotion to the Americas League in 2023 with The Union, he joined Hero Base and led the team to victory in Split 1. However, the team faltered in Split 2, missing playoffs and the chance to compete at Americas Ascension in 2024.

Meanwhile, peu returns to the VCT stage after a mixed tenure with LOUD in 2024. Under his guidance, LOUD reached the grand finals of the Americas Kickoff and qualified for Masters Madrid, where they secured a top-four finish. However, the team struggled in subsequent splits, missing both Masters Shanghai and Champions Seoul, leading to peu's departure as LOUD began restructuring.

FURIA's journey in 2024 was far from impressive, as the team managed only three wins across all Americas League events, with two victories coming against other Brazilian teams. Their absence from the international stage for nearly two years has put pressure on them to reclaim Brazil's dominance in the VCT.

With the addition of MIBR, LOUD, and the newly-promoted 2Game Esports, FURIA aims to reestablish Brazil as a formidable region brimming with talent. The team will use the OFF//SEASON to refine their strategies and prepare for the 2025 Americas Kickoff.
