Paper Rex Wins Spotlight Series Pacific, Defeat GEXP 3-0 in the Grand Final

Paper Rex emerged as the champions of the Spotlight Series Pacific, claiming the title with a commanding 3-0 victory over Xipto Esports X Global Esports in the Grand Final. The win earned Paper Rex the top prize of $20,000 USD, while GEXP secured $15,000 USD as the runners-up. Paper Rex Spotlight Series Champions 2024

Group Stage Recap

Xipto Esports X Global Esports dominated the group stage with an unbeaten 3-0 record, showcasing their synergy and adaptability. They secured clean 2-0 wins in all their matches, finishing with an impressive +43 round differential. Meanwhile, Paper Rex bounced back from an opening loss to GEXP, defeating DRX Changers and ZETA DIVISION GC to finish second in the group with a 2-1 record.

Japan’s DRX Changers and ZETA DIVISION GC struggled to keep up with their more experienced opponents. DRX Changers managed a single win against ZETA DIVISION GC, earning third place and $10,000 USD, while ZETA DIVISION finished last, taking home $5,000 USD.


Grand Final: PRX vs. GEXP

  • Map 1: Pearl (13-11) The series kicked off with a tightly contested battle on Pearl. Both teams exchanged rounds, but Paper Rex edged out GEXP in the closing moments. Jinggg stood out with a dominant performance, posting 311 ACS to give his team the lead.

  • Map 2: Bind (13-8) On Bind, Paper Rex showcased superior map control and adaptability. GEXP struggled to counter their aggressive setups, and Jinggg’s impactful plays secured a convincing win for Paper Rex.

  • Map 3: Ascent (13-10) GEXP mounted a strong defense, but Paper Rex’s well-coordinated executes and clutch moments proved decisive, sealing the 3-0 sweep.

The tournament stood out for featuring mixed-gender rosters comprising players from both the VCT and Game Changers ecosystems, promoting inclusivity and competition. Teams were required to have at least two Game Changers players, which added a unique dimension to the gameplay and highlighted emerging talent.

With their victory, Paper Rex demonstrated their continued dominance in the Pacific region, setting the stage for an exciting competitive year ahead.
