Riot Games Announces Plans for Pacific Challengers Player Contract Database

Riot Games is creating a Player Contract Database for the Pacific Challengers circuit, aiming to enhance transparency and streamline player transactions within the tier-two ecosystem. Jake Sin, Head of VALORANT Esports APAC, made the announcement during the VCT Pacific Kickoff Pre-Event Press Conference in Seoul.

The system will function similarly to the Global Contract Database (GCD) used in the VCT, allowing public access to details such as player names, team affiliations, contract durations, residency statuses, and team contact information. This initiative seeks to reduce instances of player poaching or tampering while facilitating smoother transitions between tier-one and tier-two teams.

“We are also working on creating a Challengers Player Contract Database to create greater transparency of player signings in tier two, which will allow easier transactions between teams across tier one and two and help prevent poaching or tampering of any players inadvertently due to lack of information, which I hope will further help with player mobility,” Sin stated.

Although this system is currently confirmed for the Pacific region, which includes Southeast Asia, Korea, Japan, South Asia, and Oceania. There is no information yet on whether similar databases will be introduced in other regions.
